…are the mistakes. I wrote a log on Lang-8 today. That’s not the news.
The news is I screwed it up so badly. All but like two of my lines of Japanese were corrected in some way.
And I’m loving it. “WHAT???” you say. *ahem* Let me explain.
One of my Lang-8 friends inspired me to write more often, and I plan to. That’s one of my New Year’s resolutions actually. Another is, and I’ve just decided on this today, is to not be so afraid of screwing up, at least with regard to language learning.
I may not know the grammar patterns I need to use, or the right nuance of vocabulary, or the level of politeness appropriate for certain situations, but if I never get out there and do anything, I’ll never be good at it. I’ll try to write more often and be a bit more freeform about everything (as in not trying to stick to stuff I know, and venturing out of my comfort zone a bit)
I’ve stored some of the corrections in my Notebook (on Lang-8) and I plan to review the heck out of every one that I got from the great people there.
I really appreciate them putting up with my terrible attempt at communication.
今日のポイント: 間違いすれば、もっと間違いするな。 (If you make mistakes, make more!) That’s probably wrong but guess what? I don’t care
